Can either of you answer the question: How the hell did we even KNOW this song? "That girl can sure enough make my little light shine"?!?
Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine
That girl can sure enough make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin' up and down my spine
'Cause I know that my Elvira's mine
So I'm singin'
Elvira, Elvira
My heart's on fire Elvira
Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow
Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow
Heigh-ho Silver, away
Tonight I'm gonna meet her at the Hungry House Cafe
And I'm gonna give her all the love I can
She's gonna jump and holler 'cause I saved up my last two dollars
We're gonna search and find that preacher man
Now I'm a singin'
Elvira, Elvira
My heart's on fire Elvira
Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow
Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow
Heigh-ho Silver, away

Well, it is plain to see that you, Colleen, and myself are responsible adults and would never drive in a car with the radio on a station that would warp the little people in our lives brains... our parents did not have as high of standards as we did. I know, it is shameful. Your mother and my mother are probaby the main culprits. When they weren't drinking boxed wine, they were filling our heads with such trash! It is a wonder that we all turned out so well...
That was also the canoe trip where my sister met a *gasp* boy and my Dad grounded her to the tent for talking to him.
Good times... good times.
I seem to remember it was June's older sister who introduced us to this song, however we weren't so vocally talented that we went beyond the hysterical chorus. I definitely don't remember those verses! Although The Cleavers DID have a Texas background-so who knows what y'all were exposed to in those crucial formative years!!!
Hey, I do follow you! You're totally on my blogroll and I check your site out every day!
I have left comments before, right?
